When you need a new rug, there’s always a dilemma: Wool or Synthetic? The answer is extremely complicated: it depends.
On what? Let’s find out!

Wool Rugs
Wool rugs have been popular for years due to multiple reasons. One of them is that they provide a luxurious look and give a cozy and natural feeling to every space.
1
PROS
Extremely strong, durable, and very easy to maintain. The surface of the fibers is naturally protected by a thin coating so it’s very easy to clean it by simple vacuuming.
Fire-resistant and very slow to burn. Speaks for itself!
Eco friendly and sustainable. Producing a wool carpet requires up to 6 times less energy than its synthetic analog.
Hypoallergenic. Wool rugs absorb dust, toxins and clean the air.
Help to regulate temperature and humidity in the room, making it warm in winter and cool in summer.
CONS
Price tag. A wool rug will cost you much more than a synthetic one.

Synthetic Rugs
Nowadays much more rugs are made of synthetic materials. They offer a great variety of solutions for all budgets with some practical benefits.
PROS
Extreme abrasion and stain resistance. This is the best option for families with kids or pets.
Very low absorption. That prevents it from developing mildew and mold.
Synthetic rugs do not fade and are available in a variety of colors.
Affordable
CONS
Due to their low absorption, synthetic carpets are unable to regulate or clean indoor air quality. That’s why they can feel cool in winter and hot in summer.
And last (but not least) point while considering which rug to choose. If it’s in a high-traffic zone, it’s better to choose the rug that resists stains and doesn’t crush easily. But if you are choosing the rug for your bedroom, those qualities may not be as important as comfort tactile impressions.
